1. Artist Residencies

​

Artist Residencies are at the heart of Dancing Tree Academy's commitment to artistic excellence, cultural exchange, and original creation.

​

Throughout the year, the Academy welcomes distinguished artists from Canada and around the world to share their artistic knowledge, creative practice, and cultural perspectives through residencies, artist talks, creative laboratories, rehearsals, open dialogues, demonstrations, and other forms of artistic exchange. Guests may include tango maestros, dancers, actors, directors, writers, musicians, composers, choreographers, and interdisciplinary artists whose work inspires new ways of thinking, creating, and connecting.

More than visiting guests, resident artists become part of the Dancing Tree community. They exchange ideas with local artists, mentor emerging creators, participate in artistic research, and contribute to the ongoing development of original Canadian works. Every residency is an opportunity to build lasting artistic relationships and international collaborations that extend far beyond a single visit.

​

As the Academy grows, Artist Residencies will become an ongoing international exchange program connecting Toronto with creative communities around the world—bringing together East and West, North and South through artistic dialogue, cultural exchange, and meaningful human connection.

2. Community Collaborations​

​

We believe artistic communities thrive through collaboration rather than competition. The Academy partners with local artists, tango teachers, dancers, musicians, actors, and cultural organizations to offer specialized workshops, themed training programs, and creative projects throughout the year. By learning from diverse voices and approaches, students gain a richer, more balanced, and more well-rounded artistic education.

3. Mentorship - Teaching Assistant Pathway

​

A mentorship-based development program designed to cultivate future teaching assistants, instructors, and community leaders.

 

Candidate → Special Training → Buenos Aires Immersion → Teaching Assistant → Instructor

 

Participants develop teaching skills through observation, service, mentorship, cultural immersion, and hands-on experience while supporting classes, workshops, performances, and community activities. Advancement is by invitation and based on artistic growth, professionalism, leadership, and commitment to the values of Dancing Tree Academy.

4. Research & Development - Tree Family Creative Lab 

​

Where Learning Becomes Creation.

​

Tree Family Creative Lab is Dancing Tree Studio's exclusive artistic research and development program for Tree Family members. It is a creative community where members learn together, create together, and accompany one another through the artistic journey.

​

Building upon Body Conditioning, Tango Foundation, Drama Lab, and Academy Workshops, the Lab brings together students, professional artists, and community members to explore new ideas, develop original work, and collaborate across dance, theatre, music, film, and interdisciplinary performance.

​

More than advanced training, the Lab fosters artistic curiosity, meaningful collaboration, and long-term creative relationships. Here, artistic companionship becomes as important as artistic excellence.

Projects developed through the Lab may grow into stage productions, films, performances, artist residencies, community presentations, and new creative partnerships.
